The first month of school has flown by! Fall is officially here and things are in full swing in fourth grade! This month in ELA we will continue to study folktales, storytelling, and themes in narrative writing. We will go on to do research on Native Americans to help us write an informational piece about their traditions and customs. In addition, our Social Studies unit will lead us to understand how Native Americans influenced the development of New York. In Math, we will extend our skills in multiplication and problem solving. We will continue to explore electricity and magnetism in Science.
Outside the classroom, we look forward to events including Picture Day, the Pumpkin Patch, and the March of Dimes! This is going to be an exciting, fun-filled month!

Words for life
Your child is expected to complete one activity (shown below) per night to practice his/her Words for Life. Quizzes will be given every other week. Every Monday students write sentences with their new words. On Tuesday they make a syn/ant. chart. Wednesday through Friday they may choose a different activity from the menu below.
