Halloween big mask monsters
In this project basic facial expressions using the position of eyebrows and the corners of the mouth were discussed. The children learned how to create expressions of anger, fear and happiness by manipulating the eyebrows and mouth. After the faces were filled in with oil stick, they were cut out and mounted on a paper bag that the children decorated with colored tissue paper.
leaf pile play collage
In this project the children were first given pre-cut circles and rectangles to formulate the top half of a human figure throwing leaves from a leave pile. Later abstract marks were done to create leaves both in a pile and floating in the air.
monsters in grass with ghosts
In this project simple shapes were pre-drawn with the goal of the children filling them in. First the heads were drawn in using basic cartoon faces and expressions followed by the bodies. Next grass was created on the bottom of the page and simple ghosts with ovals and arms were added.
three dimensional abstract paper sculptures
In this project the pre-k children prepared sheets of paper with crayon resist abstract action paintings. Later the papers were cut into strips with a paper cutter and the strips were mixed and given back to the children to glue on black paper in twisting abstract layers.
